Episode 88 - Tashrima Hossain & Saying ‘No’
Managers are raising their rates, but how much money would it take to keep you locked into an abusive job? For 100k a year, would you be a Powerpoint punching bag?
Tashrima Hossain was a star student at Stanford University. And she was earning $100,000k a year at JP Morgan. All she had to do was stick it out for a year or two, and those 6-figure paychecks would jump-start her life. Then, she quit. Like the rest of us bailing during the Great Resignation, Tashrima decided it wasn’t worth the stress and misery of being her boss’s Excel Sheet mule. So she threw off her yoke and started the job hunt.
On today’s episode Joe and Todd go looking for the Hidden ‘No’ we’re all searching for. That emergency brake we all hide, deep down inside, which we hope we’ll have the guts to pull when life gets too fast for us. We’ll talk about which mental illnesses might make it harder to tell someone no - especially if they’re a spouse or boss. We’ll share our own personal experiences about being “Yes Men” for other people, where it got us, and how it made us feel. Finally, we’ll share proven strategies for building stronger ‘No’ muscles, and walk through the steps and practices to make you feel better about rejecting people who would sap your time, money, and spirit.
