Episode 85 -Benedict Arnold Radical Honesty Part 2
Did you know the movie Liar Liar was based on a real movement in Psychotherapy? Make a wish! Because today we want to know - what would happen if we never lied?
On Part 2 of our exploration of trust and honesty we’re diving deep into Benedict Arnold’s letters, correspondents, and quotes recorded in personal journals. All so Joe can try to convince us that Benedict Arnold wasn’t the turn-coat we learned about in history. Worse - Arnold might have been one of America’s earliest patriots, driven to betrayal by a power-drunk lawyer who wanted to hide his own traitorous dealings.
We’ll also discuss Radical Honesty. A movement started by psychotherapist Brad Blanton. Which was later adopted into a comedy played by Jim Carrey. The real-life version of Radical Honesty is no joke. And according to its founder, we should all be telling the truth, all the time, no matter who it hurts. In fact, hurting people’s feelings might be a crucial part of the process.
On our quest to eliminate lies from our diet, we’ll also answer questions like: Why do we lie as humans? What would our relationships look like if we always said what we thought? And how would the business world work if CEOs were beholden to the truth?
