Episode 84-Benedict Arnold Trustworthiness Part 1
Every year articles emerge touting one virtue as the pinnacle of all business virtues - trustworthiness. How do we square this with the success of shady companies like Facebook?
Joe has two pet peeves: Congress, and people who think Benedict Arnold was THE greed-driven traitor of the American Revolution. So on today’s episode, Todd hands over the history reigns so Joe can go on a tangent trying to defend the Judas of Colonial America. More specifically, we’ll explore a common theory among historians. That the leading prosecutor appointed by Congress, Joseph Reed, had a personal vendetta against Arnold. And Joseph Reed destroyed Arnold’s reputation so thoroughly, Arnold would have been a fool to ignore the British offer.
We’ll also look at Trustworthiness as a virtue in business and as a personal practice. We’ll explore the fallibility of our ‘trust gauge’ as humans, and talk about why the majority of people find Benedict Cumberbatch’s face ‘untrustworthy’. We’ll also reveal the physical tell of trustworthiness we all wear. And we’ll get down to the cold hard science of trust, so we can ‘level up’ our own trustworthiness.
